The challenge
Inventory counts drifted out of sync across warehouses, and nightly batch reconciliation jobs routinely ran past the start of business the next day, leaving staff working from stale numbers.
The approach
Designed a consolidated inventory service on AWS using DynamoDB for real-time stock counts and Aurora for reporting, with an event-driven sync replacing the nightly batch job.
The outcome
Reconciliation moved from a nightly batch process to near real-time updates, and warehouse staff worked from consistent stock counts across all locations.
